Sinopse:Cansada da mesmice do seu dia-a-dia, Mary Alice decide tomar uma atitude radical e colocar um ponto final em sua rotina. Assim começa a série 'Desperate Housewives', com o suicídio da narradora, e a surpresa que sua atitude provoca nas amigas mais íntimas, as vizinhas do bairro chique, Wisteria Lane.
A partir de agora, de seu único e exclusivo ponto de vista, inusitado e indiscreto, Mary Alice vê mais coisas do que quando estava viva, e compartilha com os telespectadores todos os segredos escondidos atrás das portas de cada uma das casas desse aparente subúrbio perfeito.
Especialmente os segredos de suas melhores amigas: Susan Mayer, uma ilustradora de livros infantis, divorciada, que cria a filha sozinha; Lynett Scavo, que trocou uma carreira de sucesso na publicidade para cuidar da família; Bree Van De Kamp uma perfeccionista doentia, que está prestes a ter sua família contra si; e, por fim, Gabrielle Solis, uma ex-modelo sedutora que sempre consegue o que quer. Além das amigas, Mary Alice também observa a vizinha gostosona, Edie Britt, que desperta a curiosidade de todos por estar sempre desfilando com um namorado novo.
No fundo, esta comédia mostra que de perto ninguém é normal, e faz isso com toques de humor negro e algumas pitadas de drama.
